The Hackensack-based investment specialist firm of Gerber/Somma Associates is celebrating its 35th year in the multi-family brokerage industry. While it took a relatively short span to attain success in the income-property marketplace, co-founders Harold Gerber and Frank Somma boast diverse backgrounds which have given rise to their swift climb to a leadership role in the real estate business. Both Gerber and Somma volunteered that the firm's forte is based on local market knowledge, long-term business relationships and their personal love for the business. Gerber's educational training was in the legal field, having graduated from New York Law School after completing military service during the Korean Conflict. He is a member of the New York Bar. A graduate of Saint Peter's College, Frank Somma achieved early recognition in the accounting field. Harold Gerber
Having grown up in Brooklyn, New York Harold Gerber attended Hofstra University where he obtained a B.S. and MBA Degree. After college, he served in the US Army Signal Corps during the Korean conflict and commenced his Real Estate career a short time after being discharged from military service. Harold's initiation into the Real Estate arena commenced simultaneously with being admitted into the evening session of New York Law School where he received his law degree and is currently a member of the New York Bar. Gerber began his Real Estate career with a local Jersey City realtor where he learned the brokerage business from the ground up. In 1973 he joined with Frank Somma to form a company known as Gerber/Somma Associates, Inc. currently recognized as one of the leading investment property brokerage firms in New Jersey. Harold's membership in this elite group combined with his 48 years experience in the industry has warranted his reputation as a formidable dealmaker who brings enormous skill and experience to the negotiating table. Living in New York City for the past 20 years and having been married to Dee Dee for nearly 50 years have magnified their interests in both opera and ballet. In addition, Harold is an enthusiastic follower of all major sports and receives great enjoyment from spending much time with his 2 children, their spouses and 4 grandkids.

Frank Somma
Frank Somma was born in Jersey City and graduated from St. Peter's College with a B.S. degree in Accounting. He was employed by Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co, C.P.A. and followed as a financial analyst in the Real Estate Division of Rockefeller Center, Inc. Frank received his real estate license in 1971 and began his career as a salesman by organizing the multifamily section of a major local real estate organization based in Hudson County. He became a Broker and formed the firm of Gerber/Somma Associates, Inc. with Harold Gerber in 1973. For the last 34 years, Somma has continued to climb the ladder of success where his accomplishments encompass a wide variety of residential and commercial sales, site development, leasing plus financial consulting and management services. He enjoys racquetball, boating and traveling.

Vito DeGennaro
Gerber/Somma Associates announced that Vito DeGennaro has rejoined the investment property brokerage firm as Director of Sales. Prior to returning to Gerber/Somma, he served as a special property analyst for Lehman Brothers. Through his 23 years selling experience in the real estate brokerage field, DeGennaro has built a large client base having earned much professional acclaim due to his candid approach to the business. He holds a BS in Business Management from St. Peters College in Jersey City and resides in Atlantic Highlands, NJ with his wife of 30 years.
